of his mouth,
splashing on to his desk.
He doesn’t even have the decency to stand up.
His fat tired legs are tired of making an effort.
Funny thing is he doesn’t have a problem yelling at you until his veins turn red to purple.
He’s pissed because of
a mistake you made.
Encouragement isn’t in his vocabulary.
You must master
your happiness.
You are the King of sweet smiles,
compliments,
and compassion.
You have to give yourself the encouragement that he doesn’t give.
The courage to find a job
that will end
the big bad wolf’s intense anger.
To a place that won’t stress you out at night as you are trying to fall asleep.
You’ve always had the power
to improve your career,
it’s been hiding in your back pocket this whole time.
Pull it out and change…
Change the thoughts and external pain
so you can put out work
that will bring you
the life that you deserve.

My current boss is not bad, but the enviroment is killing him too! Maybe its time for both of us to master our happiness…

Hi Luke, mastering happiness isn’t easy and I’m far from it, but taking small steps every day can really make a big difference.
Great post, Karl- very poetic 🙂 There are so many people who work for employers like this. Despite the fact that these economic times are tough, it doesn’t mean that we have to sit there and tolerate being disrespected. If employers were smart, they would realize that in order to receive the maximum from their employees (thus increasing their chance of their business succeeding), they would treat their employees as they wish to be treated- hopefully with respect!
Janelle’s last blog post..5 Tips for Maximizing Productivity at Work
Hi Janelle, it still amazes me when I hear a horror story from a friend about a particular boss that was mean and abusive. Not one single employee should have to put up with any form of abuse. My Hope is that the business world’s growth will include improving how every employee interacts with each other.
