We are working in the right direction when we get those body tingles. You know what I’m talking about – those natural chemicals that shoot through your body saying, “Yeah, that’s how you do it.”
No drugs required, just the fun that creative work can give us.
I’m curious…what gives you that natural buzz? Playing a guitar? Writing a poem? Finding an accounting mistake?

A positive attitude is so much easier on my soul than when I’m Mr. Grumpy pants. When Mr. Grumpy pants kicks in, I can always rely on Patricia’sWisdom to ease my pain.

There’s nothing worse than when I’ve got a good work buzz going, and someone interrupts me and totally kills it. So beware of the haterz out there looking to bring you down!
What gives me a buzz? guitar, my kids (a totally mellow buzz, not a creepy one), relaxing with the wife… and as much as I would like to deny it, programming.
I find that once I find that zone there’s no stopping me really, it’s almost like I’m in a trance. Getting started is usually the hardest part for me.

Hi Karl,
Great stuff again! I have a couple of work projects that are real highs going on right now, and one that is pulling me down. While they all have to get done, I try to mix it up as much as possible – so that the one that I’m struggling with more (as far as keeping myself on a high) doesn’t bring me down too far.
Beyond that, my highs come from making deep connections, from an early morning bike ride, and from a game of backyard football with my family.
Well said.
Trust your gut and shift gears. Mind set makes all the difference.
You know, I read a really good article the other day that relates to this. It was Harrison Barnes talking about motivation and how you need a mission. Having a mission energizes you; it gives you a reason to keep working. Gives you that buzz, if you will. There are three stages of development; first is a job, second is a career, and third is a mission. I found his article really inspiring in that sense, much like yours. I think it’s a really good read. ๐
Karl, I LOVE your videos. It makes you so real. It makes the message so much more powerful. Keep up the good work!
Hi Scott, I can see how music and kids can give a great buzz. They help connect with the soul.
Hi Cody, got to love “the zone.” Makes living feel so beautiful.
Hi Lance, it’s our deep connection to others and our work that brings out the buzz. I know that when I combine the two it’s a different feeling that easily motivates me to do great work.
Hi J.D., the gut is the link to our subconscious. There is so much knowledge within us that we don’t always access – our guts are that bridge.
Hi Rachel, I like your three stages of development. Without all three we don’t create the life that truly fulfills us.
Hi Stephen, very kind of you to say. Just trying out new methods to see what delivers the best message.
Thank you for the shout out and I am glad if I can be of assistance to Mr. Grumpy Pants! Ha ha that made me laugh.
Sorry it took me so long to get here, I was on that drive and exam journey that was giving me foolish misgivings!… am getting caught up now and it is good to be home and on my regular computer!
Great advice Karl. Ya gotta do the right work for you. ๐
I love it! I know I personally enjoy doing creative things… like digital artwork, magazine designs, and writing. ๐
