The Beta launch of the Happy at Work Project

If I was a betting man I would put up $10,000 that everyone has a friend who hates his or her job. I would win every time because I know you all know someone who bitches and complains about their job and does nothing to bring more joy into their working life.

That’s why I’m launching the BETA program of The Happy at Work Project. I want to help people who hate their jobs as well as people who put up with their “ok” jobs.

“OK” and “Hate” – Two Terrible Words

People who hate their jobs need to find a way to accept or change their circumstances. The only way they will actually do this is if they understand what they truly want out of their careers.

People who have just an “ok” job but don’t get excited about the work they are doing need to figure out what makes them feel energized and how to do more of this type of work.

I don’t believe in coasting. Sure, if you want to stay where you are then that’s your prerogative. This project is not for you.

But if you want to build a career that is going to take your happiness to the next level then the “Happy at Work Project” is your cup of “wake up and have fun” coffee.

Build Your Happiness

I’ve created a free 12 page workbook (PDF) that will help you dissect what will bring you happiness at work and learn how to start your own Happy at Work Project.

I also created a Work Happy Now weekly planner to supplement your Happy at Work Project. I have been using a similar planner for the past few months. The concept is to have a resolution for each day of the week.

So…

  • Monday will be about Bringing Joy to Others
  • Tuesday will be about Explore Something New
  • Wednesday will be about Using Your Strengths
  • Thursday will be about Helping Someone
  • Friday will be about Celebrating Your Accomplishments
  • Saturday will be about Lowering Your Stress Level
  • Sunday will be about Organizing Your Life

If you would like for me to send this to you then email me at karl (AT) workhappynow (DOT) com or my contact page. Write “Work Happy Now Weekly Planner” anywhere in the message and I’ll send it to you. I will also send you a list of themes you can use for each day.

What you choose to focus on will determine your happiness. If you can focus your energy in a positive direction, you will improve your productivity and success. Try developing your own Happy at Work Project today and take control of your work happiness. It has worked for me and I know it can work for you.

As this is a BETA program that is completely free, I would like your help in improving this program over the next few months. If you have any tips or detailed ideas for improvement please let me know.

  1. This is GREAT!!! I SO needed this today when I’m not so happy to be here. I can’t wait to download the PDF and get started. Thanks so much for starting this.

  2. Hi Karl,
I’ve downloaded the PDF and will take a look at it. Very cool – giving people a tool to use in making the work life better. The thing is, we spend a lot of time during our life working. Making that time as meaningful and fun as possible just really makes our lives and our well-being all that much more solid. Great stuff Karl – and a great tool you’re providing!

  3. Nice work, Karl. I like the workbook. Looking forward to future postings! Happy at Work is an especially important philosophy in today’s economy when so many people are loosing their jobs.

  4. This looks great Karl!

I’ve downloaded and printed the workbook and will work on that. It is great for us to have our goals/themes written down in front of us. It gets them outside of our minds and into the real world.
The concept of having a resolution a day looks really good. My wife and I have our morning “meeting” over coffee and sketch out our daily, short term and long term goals. I like my work and take pride in what I do but,as with most things in life, there is room for improvement.

  5. Encouraging. I’ve viewed your video about the confidence at work too, and I believe everyone who’s an employee is having similar situations. This is a great effort of having the Happy at Work Project launched, as I believe some would benefit from it. Keep up the good work.

  6. I agree. Either find the job you love, or love the job you’re with. And growing your job is growing yourself.

I think a lot of people can love their job, but they need more skills and more effective mindsets to do so. For example, focusing on things like “deliberate practice” or “mastering your craft” or “making meaning” or using compelling metaphors can really change your game.

  7. Hi Positively Present, I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Laurie, hope you have fun.

Hi Lance, making life as meaningful as possible is a huge part of your happiness. When we do work we enjoy success comes naturally.

Hi ScottW, we need happiness at work, now more than ever.

Hi Sean, I like that you and your wife work on your goals together in a morning meeting. When you have someone there with you, encouraging you to be even better that just makes the experience more enjoyable.

Hi Ching Ya, hopefully a lot of people find value in the Happy at Work Project.

Hi J.D., when we believe in making ourselves better in every part of our lives we make the game mold around us.

Hi Marelisa, thanks for the Stumble and hopefully a lot of people give it a go.
